Woke up out of a dream wherein I was a human married to a Klingon poet, and raising his dead brother's kids. I remember three scenes: (1) picking up a piece of paper with a few rejected lines scribble on it in Klingon and asking my husband why they didn't work (I didn't read Klingon), (2) taking one of the kids to buy a birthday cake for our mutual shared birthday and telling him to pick out our cake and tell me why I should like it, (3) grocery shopping with the entire family, and seeing my father-in-law pick out a pot of color, as he explained to me it was for an upcoming festival during which Klingons paint their ridges in various colors.

Way more domestic than you usually think of Klingons. I don't really expect the pater familias of a Klingon clan to go grocery shopping.

Anyway, I'm finishing up my decadent French toast room-service breakfast and then I'll check out, go back to the con, and commence with coloring the commission (I didn't color last night because the ink has to dry for at least half an hour so as not to smear with repeated application of marker to it. :D)

hubba hubba.

My ZQ crushing is continuing to be quite unfortunate and just a little too ridiculous. And embarrassing. To be honest, I'm far more into the Pine/Quinto aspect of the nuTrek fandom than the actual Trek stuff. I'm still planning on seeing ST again in theatres--I have a student discount, it's too good to pass up! eta: Dudes, they got rid of the discount! What kind of fuckery is this?! I don't want to see that nonsense Terminator or Transformers films or stupid Swedish mysteries! Darnit.

I was actually at the movies yesterday with Lilly and Chris, saw "The Hangover." It was entertaining in a mindless sort of way, I still enjoyed the heck out of it, if only because of the actual cinema experience. And Bradley Cooper was incredibly smokin', especially in the all black suit. I wish more stuff had been going on, but I'm mostly cooped up, watching tv and movies. I like it that way, especially when the weather is sweltering as it has been. I don't know why I always wanted to live in LA (this is an old meme, don't get me started on explaining) when I clearly cannot handle heat that well...A revision of plans is necessary.

In memory of Mazo de la Roche

Mazo de la Roche (January 15, 1879 – July 12, 1961), born Mazo Louise Roche in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, was the author of the Jalna novels, one of the most popular series of books of her time.

At the age of seven, her parents adopted de la Roche's orphaned younger cousin Caroline Clement, who joined in her fantasy world game and would become her lifelong companion. The two lived a fairly reclusive life; their relationship was not discussed widely in the press. In 1931 they adopted two children whose parents were friends of Clement and de la Roche and who had died.

De la Roche had her first story published in 1902 in Munsey's Magazine but did not begin her writing career in earnest until after the death of her father. Her first two novels, Possession (1923) and Delight (1926), were romantic novels and earned her little in income or recognition. Her third novel, Jalna, was submitted to the American magazine Atlantic Monthly, winning a $10,000 award. Its victory and subsequent publication in 1927 brought de la Roche fame and fortune at the age of 48.

The Jalna series has sold more than eleven million copies in 193 English and 92 foreign editions. In 1935, the film Jalna, based on the novel, was released by RKO Radio Pictures and, in 1972, a CBC television series was produced based on the series. Mazo de la Roche is buried near the grave of Stephen Leacock at St. George's Anglican Church, at Sibbald Point, near Sutton, Ontario.

Currently reading: Sookie Stackhouse #6 Definitely Dead

I really wish the gang would make sure that Bill would stay definitely dead. How about a nice Let's-stake-the-Bill theme party/get-together? It would probably be really popular.

I mean, if you really want to (which I don't, because there are things that can't be excused), you could try to excuse the events after #3 Club Dead with what happened in Dallas to Bill and that he couldn't control himself at that time. But this now?

Poor Sookie.

Also - I don't know, but it feels as if I accidentally skipped a book... spoiler for 'Definitely Dead' )

*goes off to read more*

Also - new episode tonight! Yay! Well, tomorrow for me, but still: New episode!

I would also like to know why my body thinks it necessary to get up at 8 am on a Sunday, when I could sleep in for a change, especially after I went to bed much too late. Between that and the beginning of cramps, I'm currently not so happy with it...

Vonn Visit!!

Vonn had come over today to get some laundry done (Due to the evacuation, the laundry mat at the end of the block was closed.)

She cauked a few windows in the bacement as she waited for her laundry to finish, couse they have been leeking when it rains and shes small enough to get up there and cauke them. She even cleans some of the garadge out of old empty boxes and such. She was feeling mighty squearly and needed to burn off exsess energy...she was like a cleaning pit bull! HA!

~DarkDreamer

When I took her home, on the way back, the sun was setting. The cloud formations were odd, airplane trails and such, so I snagged some shots.
